（Grierson， Sir George Abraham; 1851～1941） 英國印度語言學者。一八七三年以政府文官身分至印度，為印度語言調查會會長。將分布于印度各地之一七九種語言，與其他五四四種地方語言作一歷史之實際調查，研究成果極其豐碩。數年之間（1898～1902）搜集整理，著成 Linguistic Survey of India，1903～1928 ，共十一卷，當中其所親自執筆之第一卷 Introductory 為全書之摘要與精髓，系研究印度語言與印度文化史之基礎書。其他著作有 AHandbook of the Kaithi Character， 2 vols.， 1889； The Languagesof India， 1904; The Pis/a^ca Languages of North-western India，1906； Bihar peasant life， 2 vols.，1925; A Dictionary of the Kashmiri Language， 1932 等，大多為有關印度語言之卓越論文。
